Rule Of Thirds
The rule of thirds is a "rule of thumb" or guideline which applies to the process of composing visual images such as designs, films, paintings, and photographs. In the rule of thirds, photos are divided into thirds with two imaginary lines vertically and two lines horizontally making three columns, three rows, and nine sections in the images. Important com-positional elements and leading lines are placed on or near the imaginary lines and where the lines intersect. When taking a photograph with the rule of thirds in mind, it’s always best to compose the photograph in the camera. This is so that you can avoid cropping later to retain as much of the image as possible and avoid reducing the quality of your photographs. However, I encourage going back to some of your older photography and seeing if you can improve them by cropping in a way to make them use the rule of thirds technique.
The Rule of Thirds is one of the most important composition rules to learn. Planning ahead to photograph a subject using this rule greatly enhances the quality, yet digital technology can help alter and crop images taken 'in the moment' to utilize the rule. Imagine dividing the photograph into nine equal sections with equally placed horizontal and vertical lines. If your focal point, the subject of the image, is located at points where the lines cross, the image is more visually appealing. The illustration below will help you visualize the Rule of Thirds.

Best Image
This image shows that from where the car is placed it shows the composition using sand and the focus was just right as you were able to see everything clearly.
Worst Image
This image does not show the ruble of composition as it is positioned in the middle of the picture and the camera was not in focus.
